ILOILO – The 35-year-old Jolibe Saril of Barangay San Jose, Tubungan succumbed to fatal hack wounds to his head on Wednesday, Aug. 30, around 3:45 p.m.

The suspect was his debtor, Dominggo Guantia, 40, who owed P2,300.

Guantia said he was frequently humiliated by Saril.

The suspect also alleged that Saril threatened to kill him if he did not pay, according to Police Captain Rodel Ojano, chief of the Tubungan police.

“May utang ako sa iya P2,300, tatlo na katuig. Gina sukot niya na ako galing kalain na gina panghambal niya sa akon,” Guantia said in an interview via XFM Iloilo.

He added: “Pirme niya ko napahog asta nga nabuta na akon pasensiya.”

Saril’s family is determined to press a murder charge./PN
