BACOLOD City — Senior Supt. Larry Decena, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, had cleared sacked BCPO Special Operations Group (SOG) chief Supt. Jefferson Descallar of any link to illegal drugs.
Decena had been investigating claims that Descallar, among other BCPO personnel, were receiving money from drug lords.
Decena said he had invited complainants to come to his office and substantiate their claims (see related story), but none responded.
This made Decena conclude that the complainants were “pseudo-personalities harassing police operatives.” “The complaints were fabricated,” he stressed.
Descallar, now on “floating status” in Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) in Iloilo City, denied receiving any payola from drug lords.
Descallar, who had been leading anti-illegal drug operations here, admitted though that he had been receiving “requests” to “slow down” in exchange for a weekly pay of P300,000.
When news about his alleged involvement in drugs broke, PRO-6 director Chief Supt. Josephus Angan relieved him. Angan said Descallar’s relief was in connection with his pending criminal case in Cadiz City./PN
