ILOILO City – An unidentified man believed to be a victim of summary execution was fished out of the waters off Malingin Island in Barangay Guiwanon, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras around 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 22.
The man’s feet and hands were tied with a rope.
The body was already in a “state of decomposition,” according to Police Lieutenant Gary Diaz, Nueva
Valencia police chief.
The man was believed to be between 30 and 40 years old, and 5’2” tall.
He was wearing an orange jumpsuit over a white t-shirt printed with a campaign tagline of a politician, black pair short pants, and a black brief.
He also had a cross tattoo on the chest.
He may have been dead for over a week already, Diaz told Panay News.
“He was not a native of Nueva Valencia. We have not received any report on missing persons here,” he added.
The cadaver was brought to a funeral parlor in the town’s Barangay Concordia.
Meanwhile, another unidentified man was found off the coast of Bacolod City yesterday morning. The body was already in an advanced state of decomposition.
Charlie Chavez, the fisherman who brought the cadaver to the shoreline of Barangay Sum-ag in Bacolod City, found it around 8:20 a.m.
The dead man was between 5’3” to 5’5” tall.
Bacolod City Police Office spokesperson, Police Lieutenant Maria Liberty Indiape, said they have yet to identify the man.
Indiape revealed they have been receiving reports that several fishermen from Masbate Island were missing at sea since Feb. 18.
The remains will undergo autopsy to determine the cause of death, Indiape said./PN
