ILOILO – Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. cited the media for disseminating information on the projects and programs of the provincial government.
He particularly pointed out the capitol’s minimum biosecurity standards for African Swine Fever (ASF), or the TaHuM campaign – Tapak, Hugas kag Matinlo nga Pagpakaon.
“Daku to nga bagay kay kinahanglan mapabalo ang mga pumoluyo sang obra naton kag kinahanglan ma-intindihan kag makuha naton ang ila suporta,” Defensor told the Iloilo Provincial Capitol Press Corps (IPCPC) on Tuesday night, Dec. 20, at the Casa Real.
The TaHum campaign established the following as minimum biosecurity standards for ASF:
* Tapak – use of sanitizing footbath
* Hugas – proper washing and cleaning practices and methods
* Matinlo nga Pagpakaon – safe feeding and use of potable water compliant with regulatory requirements
Currently, seven towns in the province are ASF “red zones” – Oton, San Miguel, Alimodian, Santa Barbara, Leganes, New Lucena, and Mina.
Barangay Cabilauan in Barotac Nuevo town is also a “red zone”.
Defensor said the weekly press conference with IPCPC members keeps Ilonggos informed of what’s going on in the provincial government.
