ROXAS City – Capiz Governor Antonio Del Rosario has been directed to submit his verified answer to the administrative complaint filed by PDP-Laban provincial chairman Essex Quintia against him.
Deputy Executive Secretary for Legal Affairs of the Office of the President Ryan Alvin Acosta laid down the ultimatum on del Rosario. The order dated Jan. 18 – with Docket Case No. OP-DC-Case No. 18-L-138 – gives the governor 15 days from receipt to deliver his verified answer.
In his complaint affidavit dated Dec. 18, 2018 – submitted to the Office of the President – Quintia has accused del Rosario of living “a lavish lifestyle which cannot be supported by his legal income as a former congressman and incumbent governor.”
Quintia alleges that “del Rosario frequents Resort World and Solaire Casinos in Manila and gambles only at the VIP section of the [said] casinos.”
He is popular among casino personnel as a “high roller” gambler that frequents the above casinos, Quintia added.
Quintia pointed out in his affidavit a video clip leaked in 2017 showing the del Rosario playing in the Resort World Cockpit arena during the URL Worlds Pitmaster Cup 2017.
Del Rosario was not available to comment, as he was in Manila when this writer sought for his response.
A source from the Capiz Provincial Capitol told this writer, that the governor has yet to receive a copy of the order as it was only released by the Malacanang on Friday.
In a previous interview with Panay News, the governor admitted being a cockfighting aficionado before he entered politics.
“In my 45 year in public, I did not hide anything about my fondness for cockfights. It’s my therapy,” del Rosario had said.
A few weeks back, Quintia also filed a graft case against Del Rosario at the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas after the governor entered into a contract agreement for and in behalf of the Provincial Government enlisting the security agency allegedly owned by his sister Carmen del Rosario Andrade./PN
