ROXAS City – Revenue officials have urged delinquent taxpayers to avail of the government’s amnesty program.
In the recently held year-end adjustments and tax updates seminar, officials of the Bureau of Internal Revenue-Capiz urged those who still have unsettled tax obligations with the agency to take steps by availing the tax amnesty program.
BIR-Capiz information officer Edgar Salvador Jr. said taxpayers now have the opportunity to do away with penalties should they avail of the program.
He added the tax amnesty for delinquency and estate tax are now being implemented by the bureau and can be availed by the taxpayers until April 23, 2020 and June 14, 2021, respectively.
Salvador said the tax amnesty program is a one-time opportunity for taxpayers to settle their obligation to the government.
Meanwhile, Assistant Revenue District officer Marichu Gloria Espinosa said they were intensifying their efforts to reach the district office’s goal of P1,250,399,000 this year, appealing to the taxpayers to be truthful in declaring and paying their taxes.
Included in the agency’s activities to intensify revenue collections are the updating of the zonal value of real properties, conduct of Tax Compliance Verification Drive and the surveillance on establishments that are suspected of evading taxes, among others.
The seminar, held last month, were participated by withholding agents from the local government units, national government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporation, government financial institutions, private individuals, business groups, and other stakeholders.(With a report from PIA/PN)
