Delivery rider nabbed for P1.3-M ‘shabu’

ILOILO City – A food delivery driver was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay San Jose, Arevalo district on Thursday, May 9.

The 47-year-old alias “Francis” was a resident of Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district.

The officers of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) caught the suspect after he handed over a sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer for P18,000.

Police confiscated a total of 190 grams of suspected shabu valued at around P1.3 million.

Police Captain Glenn Soliman, chief of RDEU-6, said the suspect was under surveillance for several days following reports that he engaged in illegal drugs.

“Maybe his work as a food delivery rider was only a front, but he was really engaged in illegal drugs,” Soliman said.

The suspect is currently in the custody of Arevalo Police Station and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
