ILOILO – A delivery truck was barred at an animal quarantine checkpoint in Brgy. Jibao-an, Pavia town around 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21.
It is known that the municipality of Oton, a neighboring town of Pavia, is where Western Visayas’ first cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) were confirmed. It was placed under a state of calamity on Thursday, Oct. 20.
According to the Pavia Municipal Agricultural Office personnel, they stopped the said delivery truck because of questionable and lacking documents.
Based on the documents presented, there were supposedly 45 hogs in the truck, but an actual count revealed there were only 37 hogs.
The local agricultural office added that in order to pass the quarantine checkpoint, documents such as the Animal Health Certificate, Permit to Travel, and Disinfection Certificate issued from the origin of the hogs are required.
Based on obtained information, the said delivery truck was from Tigbauan town and was going to the slaughter house in Jaro, Iloilo City when flagged down at a checkpoint./PN
