ROXAS City – This city recorded a 357.14 percent increase in dengue cases.

Data from the dengue case bulletin for morbidity week No. 3 of the Provincial Health Unit (PHU) of Capiz showed 32 cases were recorded in Roxas City in January.

This is higher than the seven cases recorded in the same period last year.

Barangays Bolo, Dinginan, Tanque, and Tiza have a clustering of cases.

Meanwhile, the entire Capiz province currently has 69 dengue cases with zero deaths.

The city government of Roxas is once again reminding the public to clean their surroundings and destroy possible places for mosquitoes to hatch eggs.

Other measures include securing protection from mosquito bites, saying yes to fogging in areas with clusters of cases, and seeking early consultation when symptoms manifest.

Dengue is a viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes. It can cause severe flu-like symptoms, body aches, nausea, and rash, and could sometimes lead to dengue hemorrhagic fever, which can be fatal if not treated promptly./PN
