ILOILO City – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 6 brought its environmental programs in the province of Guimaras through “DENR sa Barangay.”
The Department has distributed residential land patents to a total of 50 beneficiaries under its program called “Handog Titulo.”
Three People’s Organizations were also awarded with checks which include the Guimaras Upland Farmers Association, Inc., Lucmayan Magrove Growers’ Association and Katilingban sang Magagmay nga mga Mangigisda sa Alegria, Inc.
DENR also recognized its five National Greening Program (NGP) beneficiaries in the province of Guimaras including the local government units (LGUs) of Nueva Valencia, Sibunag, barangay Balcon Melliza, the Department of Education, Division of Guimaras and the LAFARMA.
Present during the event were Cong. JC Rahman Nava, Gov. Samuel Gumarin, Vice Gov. Vicente de Asis, DENR Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office Vicente Sardina and DENR Director Jim O. Sampulna.
On his part, Sampulna said the visit of the Department to different LGUs aims to improve their partnerships in environmental endeavors to bring both ecological balance and economic progress.
Aside from the province of Guimaras, DENR also visited the municipality of Miag-ao where a Memorandum of Partnership Agreement was inked with the local government to fast track the implementation of public lands./PN
