SAN JOSE, Antique – The Department of Education (DepEd) in this province is appealing support for the Brigada Eskwela.
Dr. Felisa Beriong, DepEd-Antique superintendent on June 2 has asked for volunteerism and support from its local government units, education stakeholders and other volunteers.
Brigada Eskwela officially began with the Oplan Balik Eskwela through a virtual launching on June 1 and will end on Aug. 29.
Unlike the previous conduct of Brigada Eskwela where physical preparation of school facilities and maintenance of classrooms were conducted, the main focus of engaging partners this year is to support the department in the provision of opportunities to continue with the Learning Continuity Plan in line with the current situation.
“With the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the DepEd-Antique Division is faced with a big challenge on how we could deliver education using the alternative learning modalities,” she said.
Due to the poor internet connection in this province, the DepEd-Antique is looking to partner with two cable televisions and a radio station in order to assist them in giving classroom instructions.
“We do hope that the cable televisions and the radio station in this province could provide us channels or time slots where or when our teachers could deliver lessons for their students,” she added.
Beriong, meanwhile, stressed that teachers and students in this province need thermal scanners, hand sanitizers and washable face masks when face-to-face classes resume.
“We will also be needing assistance in acquiring risograph and computer units so that we could print more learning materials for students,” she added.PNA/PN
