ILOILO City – The Department of Education (DepEd) urged parents in Western Visayas to enrol their children in school early for school year 2019-2020.
DepEd’s early registration for incoming Kinder, Grade 1, Grade 7 and Grade 11 pupils in public schools started on Jan. 26.
This would go on until Feb. 22, said OIC assistant regional director Victor De Gracia Jr.
The early enrolment would help DepEd determine if there is a need for additional school facilities like classrooms.
“It would also help us plan how to address concerns such as excess enrolees,” said De Gracia.
He, however, clarified that those who could not register early would still be accommodated come June, the resumption of classes.
“Kon gusto sang bata ang eskwelahan kag damo gusto mag-enrol dira, mas maplastar sila sang timprano. Kon sa June pa sila ma-enrol tapos nag-exceed na ang enrolment capacity sang school, i-refer sila sa nearest nga school,” said De Gracia./PN
