ILOILO – The Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Iloilo has a new schools division superintendent.

Dr. Roel F. Bermejo formally assumed his new post yesterday. He was the former schools division superintendent of Capiz.

Bermejo replaced Dr. Mac Miguel Aposin who was reassigned to Aklan. He vowed to ensure the effective implementation of the K-12 program, improve the delivery of instruction and assessment of students.

Yesterday morning after paying Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. a courtesy visit at the provincial capitol, Bermejo told reporters the provincial chief executive asked him to improve the remedial reading program in schools, their health and sanitation facilities.

He would be checking schools across the province, said Bermejo, but there would be no immediate reshuffling of district supervisors.

Bermejo started out as a classroom teacher then rose from the ranks to become a principal, education program supervisor, assistant school superintendent, and now school superintendent./PN
