KALIBO, Aklan – Schools in the province of Aklan are reminded not to engage in any form of electioneering and partisan political activities during the end-of-school-year (EOSY) rites.
The Department of Education (DepEd) said the prohibition on electioneering during graduation ceremonies aligns with DepEd Order No. 48, series of 2018.
DepEd Order No. 9, series of 2019 also provides moving up or graduating rites should be conducted in an appropriate solemn ceremony befitting the graduating students and their families and shall not be used as a political forum.
EOSY rites for School Year 2024-2025 are being held through a solemn ceremony aimed at recognizing the hard work, growth and academic achievements of the graduates/completers, while commemorating the collective efforts of the entire school community in fulfilling the mandate of providing quality basic education to Filipino learners.
The theme of this year’s ceremonies is “Henerasyon ng Pagkakaisa: Kaagapay sa Bagong Pilipinas” (Generation of Unity: Partners for the New Philippines).
DepEd also reminded its personnel to diligently observe and adhere to the prescribed functions outlined in Section 10 of Comelec Resolution 11104 like assist the poll body in its information campaign against vote-buying, vote-selling and abuse of state resources, initiate the conduct of symposium, debates and other relevant school activities promote education against vote-buying and vote-selling.
