DepEd receives equipment from San Carlos City gov’t

NEGROS Occidental – The local government of San Carlos City in this province turned over close to P5 million worth of equipment to the Department of Education (DepEd)-Division of San Carlos City.

Led by Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo, the local government turned-over 90 units of 55-inch LED television (TV) sets, one unit Copylandia Comcolor Copier and Sorter, and one unit ID maker, all worth P4,876,820, to Schools Division Superintendent Anthony Liobet.

Liobet said the copier will be used in the reproduction of modules while the TV sets, paired with the upcoming portable media library, will be used to air different learning episodes for the students.

The Division office is planning to launch their own radio and TV studio at the Congressman Vicente Gustilo Sr. Memorial School which is part of DepEd’s blending learning approach in widening the access of education to students despite the pandemic, Liobet said.

He added that there are selected teachers to do the live teaching, while he hopes the broadcasting system will materialize before the end of the school year.

DepEd allocated a total of P27-million from the Special Education Fund (SEF) for the Information and Communication Technology, office and other property equipment as a support to the basic education – learning continuity plan for the different learning delivery modalities to be implemented in every schools.

The SEF is sourced from real property taxes collected by the local government.

Aside from the equipment, the local government of San Carlos also provided P4.6-million for the purchase of bond papers and printers with three printers for each school under the Division.

Liobet added that the teachers also received P500 as load allowance for them to contact parents of students related to school announcements and inquiries. (PIA)
