BACOLOD City – Depression was believed to have drove a man to commit suicide in Purok Makawili, Barangay Sibucao, San Enrique, Negros Occidental, police said.
The 61-year-old resident Angel Talaver was found by his wife Cristina, also 61, hanging in their kitchen with a rope tied around his neck around 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 8, a police report showed.
Cristina – who was from the public market of La Carlota City, Negros Occidental at the time – told the police that her husband was diagnosed with depression.
But Talaver failed to take the medicines that his neuro-psychiatric doctor at the Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital in Iloilo City prescribed.
Talaver was brought to the Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital in La Carlota City where attending physician Dr. George Parreño pronounced him “dead on arrival.”/PN
