ACTOR Derek Ramsay took up the cudgels for Swedish entrepreneur and photographer Pernilla Sjoo, who was blamed for the tiff between Andi Eigenmann and her fiance, Siargao-based surfer Philmar Alipayo.
A few days after airing their lovers’ spat on social media, Eigenmann and Alipayo seemed to have mended their relationship, leaving Sjoo to face public backlash for being painted as the third-party.
This did not sit well with Ramsay, who defended his and wife Ellen Adarna’s friend, saying Sjoo had been subjected to a lot of bashing and even death threats because of what he called “irresponsible posting” on the part of Eigenmann and Alipayo.
“She’s happily in a relationship. Alam ng boyfriend lahat. Let’s get all the facts here. This is not being biased,” the actor told showbiz insider Ogie Diaz in an interview.
Ramsay explained that he has no personal ill feelings towards Eigenmann but pointed out the error of the latter’s “betrayal post”.
“Ang mali dito irresponsible posting. Acting on emotions without thinking. Just jumping on guts. I’m sorry, Andi… For me, you should not have done that. Kung galit ka, naiintindihan ko ‘yon. Nasa kultura ng Filipino ‘yon. Mali na nagpa-tattoo sila together. She’s a foreigner. She didn’t do it with the intent to hurt Andi. She didn’t do it with the intent to steal,” he said.
The actor further said that his “A Secret Affair” co-star should have just confronted Alipayo first instead of posting about it.
“Ang unang ayusin mo ‘yung partner mo. Si Philmar. Ayusin mo yon. Huwag mo ilagay sa publiko. Because you don’t know the action that you did, without thinking. You didn’t even consult a human being. You consulted ChatGPT. And you posted it with your influence, with your followers. That was very irresponsible of you. You don’t know how a post like that can destroy somebody,” he told Eigenmann.
Ramsay further said Alipayo didn’t even bother to apologize to Sjoo following the uproar.
“Excuse me for using this term; you [Philmar] should have the balls to be a man, magpakalalaki ka. Ayusin mo ang problema mo sa asawa mo. Unahin mo ‘yan,” added the actor.
Ramsay also said that Sjoo felt bad about having that “224” tattoo with Alipayo, and had tried to reach out to Eigenmann to apologize.
“She is not okay… She is a very private person. Her mental health is so affected. She is a brave woman. She is a dear friend. She is very close to me and Ellen. I could sleep in the same bed with Pernilla, and my wife would not doubt,” he said.
Ramsay also clarified that the viral statement of Pernilla from a Facebook account was allegedly not from hers, as she was choosing to stay silent amid the issue. (Jessica Ann Evangelista © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
