It was not instantaneous.
Spanning three generations, from artisan to builder to developer, each with a narrative to tell, they all connect to give birth to a corporate vision that is beyond aestheticism.
DBC Homes by Diversion AGT & Sons, Inc. is a real estate developer that anchors itself in growing environmentally integrated communities where the benefits of nature are inculcated to better people’s lives. And this is how it all began…
“To build and thrive”—these are the words that Mr. Tan Tiak Wan lived by. He was a Chinese craftsman who worked as a carpenter in a lumber yard in Iloilo. He built crafts that exist to this day in churches and schools. From his thriving, Mr. Tan Tiak Wan was able to start and grow his own business, Far Eastern Hardware & Furniture, known for more than 70 years of bringing quality to its customers.
Just as much, his son, Mr. Alfonso Tan, inherited the life mantra and became a force to reckon with in the construction, general contractor, and general merchant businesses. In 1985, despite having only a few employees, he started the IBC International Builders Corporation. From building schools, now, this more than a thousand strong corporation eventually diversified by engaging into various industrial or engineering projects, as well as road and bridge construction.
And now, another generation from the family line ventures into real estate development, but with an earthly twist!
Still grounded in building and thriving, Mr. Allen Son Tan added the value of connecting human lives back to nature. His narrative on how he came to have this vision started in his early married life. He and his wife were enlightened and have since lived a way of life that aligns with nature’s ways.
As much as he embodies health and wellness, he also wishes to imprint this on every community he develops and inspire others to live such a life. Strengthened with the support of his parents for such a passionate endeavor; thus, DBC Homes is born.
Yesterday, Dec. 15, Mr. Allen Son Tan, Vice President for Operations, led the ceremonial opening of DBC Homes’ office located at Barangay San Rafael, Donato Pison Ave., Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
Also present during the ribbon cutting were Mr. Alfonso Tan, president of Diversion AGT & Sons, Inc.; Helen Edith Tan; Iloilo City mayor Jerry Treñas; former senator Franklin Drilon; Iloilo City councilor Miguel Treñas; former governor Arthur Defensor Sr.; Cosette Defensor; and Michelle Defensor.
Meanwhile, Rev. Fr. Rey Zerrudo blessed the office.
DBC Homes is conceptualized to integrate the intergenerational family values of building and thriving and pay homage to the great wonders of mother nature.
