D’guete team rules Sipalay beach volley

DUMAGUETE City’s Team Timagrey of Princess Lyca Abrasaldo and Yrinitz Baligasa ruled the Sipalay City 18 & Under Women’s Beach Volleyball Invitational Tournament at the Sipalay City Beach Front.

The Dumaguete spikers defeated Bacolod City’s St. John’s Institute-A tandem of Lorien Gamboa and Bea Gapusan 21-13, 21-17 in the championship game on Friday.

On their way to the championship round, Abrasaldo and Baligasa defeated Foundation Preparatory Academy duo Yushawu Saidatu and Jillaiza Mika Doing, while Gamboa and Gapusan edged Pontevedra team of Ash Bkheet and Myrtle Escanlar.

Meanwhile, Pontevedra was able to salvage a bronze medal after defeating Foundation Preparatory Academy in the battle for third place.

Other competing teams were Sipalay-A, Sipalay-C, Enrique Villanueva-Siquijor, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, Living Stones International School, and Foundation Preparatory Academy.

The three-day tournament, which was part of Sipalay’s 17th Charter Day, was organized by the city government’s Nathaniel Jan Celiz, Roger Banzuela of UniGames and Negros Occidental Volleyball Association, and Eduardo Baragat, president of Pasaway Foundation, Inc./PN
