A STUDENT from Central Philippine University in Jaro, Iloilo City was chosen to be part of the Philippine team that will compete in the 2018 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships from Nov. 15 to 18 in Taiwan.
Grade 10 student Cindy Joy Diasnes, who had undergone intense training under the A. Diasnes Taekwondo Gym, said it was a dream come true.
“The sacrifices were all worth it. Before, I doubted if I can do it,” Diasnes said in a report on the CPU website. “I just want to give credit to my coach for always pushing me hard during training.”
Diasnes, who has won a number of gold medals in local and national tournaments, added that she was glad to finally making it to the national team after being with the training pool for four years.
“The evaluation (to be part of the national team) was a long and hard process,” she said. “I am blessed to be selected. We invested a lot of resources, financially, physically, emotionally, and psychologically until I finally got this shot.”
Just this April, Diasnes won three gold medals in secondary girls poomsae during the 2018 National Private Schools Athletic Association Meet in Tagbilaran City./PN
