TV HOST KaladKaren, a transgender woman who rose to fame for her on-point impersonation of Karen Davila, was asked by some of her fans if the reason she stayed in the United Kingdom for longer than what she initially said was because she had tied the knot.
KaladKaren, whose given name is Jervi Li has been together with a British man for more than seven years.
According to KaladKaren, the speculations could not be farther from the truth.
She emotionally shared that the reason was why she flew to the UK was because her boyfriend’s father died in an accident a few days after New Year’s Day.
“I needed to be with him, he needed me to be there and I gave that to him,” she said.
She added that she and her boyfriend’s dad were very close, and that he had been very accepting towards her.
“Never kaming nakaramdam ng discrimination, or ibang pag-turing sa akin kasi number one: I’m a foreigner. Number two: I’m a trans woman,” she shared.
“Never nila pinaramdam sa amin na iba kaming couple. They’ve been very accepting to us. I loved them very much.”
KaladKaren first rose to fame for her impersonation of Karen Davila. Her persona was born during a satirical show in college that poked fun at the last presidential elections.
She has since taken advantage of her fame to call for a law protecting the rights of the LGBTQ community in the country. (ABS-CBN)
