When Panay News started in April 1981 with Iloilo City as its base, the city’s mayor then was Luis “Tuing” C. Herrera. He started serving as the metro’s chief executive in May 1979.
Herrera served as mayor until March 1986 when, after the People Power Revolution in February of that year, then President Corazon Aquino appointed officers-in-charge in all local government units.
Herrera was replaced by OIC Mayor Rosa “Tita” O. Caram.
