STA. CRUZ, Laguna – Mary Anthony Diesto made history her swan song in the Palarong Pambansa by ruling the secondary girls’ century dash at the New Laguna Sports Complex here.
In the 2007 Palaro in South Cotabato, Luville Dato-on ruled the event in 12.6 seconds. But since then, Western Visayas failed to show up until this year when Diesto ruled the event.
Leah Joan Creer and teammate Karen Janario of Leyte Sports Academy representing Eastern Visayas came close to Diesto for silver and bronze, respectively.
Janario, a Filipino-American, was the same runner who ruled her events in the last national Batang Pinoy held in Bacolod City.
Diesto earlier ruled the secondary girls’ long jump (5.39 meters) but settled for silver in triple jump ruled by Rosnani Pamaybay of Northern Mindanao./PN
