BACOLOD City – The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has reminded government employees against engaging in any political activity.
Lailyn Ortiz, officer-in-charge (OIC) regional director of the DILG-Negros Island Region (NIR), said she discouraged permanent government employees to promote, particularly in social media, any political candidate for the 2025 midterm elections.
This is in accordance with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) existing guidelines that government officials and employees are prohibited from engaging in any electioneering and partisan political activity to ensure civil servants are focused on public service, she said.
Ortiz added that in their agency they always remind their employees not to involve themselves in politics.
Last month during the filing of the certificates of candidacy for the upcoming May 2025 midterm elections, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) had reminded all its police officers to also avoid partisan activities.
PRO-6 director Brigadier General Jack Wanky warned against serving political figures during the elections.
“Our men should be apolitical and neutral. We have to boost our election-related preparations to ensure peace and order during the 2025 polls,” Wanky said./PN
