ILOILO City – Before 2019 ends, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) would have already relocated its regional office to Santa Barbara, Iloilo from Fort San Pedro in this city.
The groundbreaking for a new DILG regional office was held on May 24 in Barangay Bolong Oeste, Santa Barbara.
The new office would cost some P47.2 million.
“Matagal nang pangarap ng regional office na magkaroon ng isang bagong building,” said DILG Region 6 officer-in-charge Engineer Ariel Iglesia.
The lot for the building was donated by the Iloilo provincial government.
The new DILG Region 6 building would be three storeys tall. Among others, it will have a conference room.
“The conference room could also serve as DILG training venue,” said Iglesia.
For his part, Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. said DILG relocating to Santa Barbara is part of a dream to make provincial areas adjacent to Iloilo City a government center.
