VETERAN actress Dina Bonnevie talked about being a mom to her two kids during a sit-down interview on Karen Davila’s YouTube channel.
In Davila’s Mother’s Day special, Bonnevie talked about the pain of having to explain to a young Danica Sotto the reason they have to live separately from her former husband Vic Sotto.
She remembered parting ways with Sotto when Danica was just six years old with a younger sibling Oyo “Boy” Sotto.
“‘Sayang, mommy, we’re not complete, we’re only three,’” said Bonnevie as Danica would tell her. “Sabi ko you don’t need to four to have a complete family. We are still a family.”
“Pero every time she would say that it would really break my heart, sobrang sakit,” said a teary-eyed Bonnevie. “If you’re hearing that from your daughter. Sobrang sakit, kung pwede ko lang ibahin.”
But things are okay now between Bonnevie and Vic now that they are living with separate families.
Bonnevie, who was with Danica during the interview, described herself as a hands-on mom.
“I really wanted spend time with my kids. I wanted to be a mom kasi that’s what I didn’t have,” she said. “My mom was European and they’re not so doting like, ‘Okay you’re an adult, take care of yourself.’”
When asked to describe a mother’s love, Bonnevie responded: “A mother’s love is unending.”
“Some people say ‘A, mag-aasawa na ang anak ko, mababawasan na ko ng responsibilidad.’ No, you never stop being a mom. From the time you bring the child to this world, until the child goes to heaven, or leave this world, you are and forever will be the mother.” (ABS-CBN News)
