ILOILO City – The Dinagyang Festival was invited to perform in South Korea and New Zealand this year.
Tribu Salognon of Jaro National High School, this year’s festival champion, will represent Dinagyang in Anseong City, South Korea in September and in Auckland, New Zealand in November.
“We are very glad that we will bring the Dinagyang Festival to other countries again. These two invitations are already confirmed,” said Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.
The confirmation came as Dinagyang celebrated its fresh win in the Aliwan Fiesta in Manila besting the country’s top festivals over the weekend.
“Dinagyang is truly world-class and this is a festival everybody should love and see at least once in their lifetime,” said Mabilog.
Dinagyang was also invited to perform in Canada and the United States, however, it has yet to be confirmed.
He said the city government will give more grandiose and bigger Dinagyang Festival during its golden year in 2018.
“We will showcase a bigger and more prepared festival in the entire country during the 50th year of Dinagyang,” added Mabilog. (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
