ILOILO – A sitio (hamlet) in Dingle town was locked down after a resident – an engineer of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region 6 – tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
“Gin-lockdown namon ang sitio kay ang kabataan sang nag-positive nag gwa kag naghinampang,” said Barangay Captain Carlito Jubelag of Abangay, Dingle.
Sitio Ilawod had around 10 households.
The lockdown commenced on Aug. 23.
“I-lift ini kon makagwa na ang test result sang close contacts sang engineer kaangay sang asawa, utod, mga kabataan kag iban pa sa ila compound,” Jubelag told Panay News.
During the lockdown, the sitio would be disinfected by the Dingle Municipal Health Office.
The NIA engineer’s test result was released just this Aug. 22. Asymptomatic, he was taken to Dingle’s quarantine facility.
The engineer was part of NIA Region 6 employees subjected to tests since two weeks ago.
Steve Cordero, regional information officer of the agency, said the engineer and two other employees were the three additional COVID cases of their office, bringing their tally to 22 as of yesterday.
Of these 22 cases, 20 are active but all asymptomatic.
Two cases already recovered, said Cordero.
NIA-6 has so far tested 331 employees, with 181 results already released as of Aug. 24./PN
