BACOLOD City – “He is still alive.”
The Bacolod City Police Office’s public information officer refuted the report that a dishwasher died after he was shot in an eatery in Barangay 8 where he was working.
The victim, 30-year-old Ricky Dela Cruz, was confined in the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana told Panay News.
A native of the municipality of Pototan in Iloilo province, Dela Cruz sustained gunshot wounds on the back, neck and right hand, a blotter report from Police Station 2 stated.
Dela Cruz was shot at close range at around 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday in Sevilla Eatery, the police report stated.
Police were still trying to determine the motive as of this writing.
They have identified a suspect – Ryan Tiangson, a resident of Barangay 8 where the victim was also temporarily staying. The suspect was still at large as of this writing, police said.
Two cartridges for a .45 pistol were recovered from the crime scene.
Dela Cruz is still alive. Reports on his death were not true, Gabana stressed.
