Disney taps Lea Salonga for ‘Storytime’ online series

LEA Salonga is the latest Disney star to lead “Storytime,” an online series from Walt Disney Animation Studios featuring children’s books read by personalities from their homes.

Amid global lockdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic, Disney in recent weeks has been releasing unique, produced-from-home content on its social media platforms.

Among them is “Storytime,” which has tapped the likes of Hollywood actors John Stamos, Jeff Goldlbum, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Colin O’Donoghue as story readers.

Salonga, an official “Disney Legend” for providing the singing voices of Princess Jasmine from “Aladdin” and Mulan in her eponymous film, is featured in the latest episode released over the weekend.

Fittingly, Salonga reads a tale from “5 Minute Princess Stories” about Princess Jasmine. In her introduction, Salonga even sings a line from the iconic “A Whole New World.”

Other Disney Princess voice actresses have also joined “Storytime,” with Paige O’Hara (Belle), Auli’i Cravalho (Moana), and Jodi Benson (Ariel) bringing to life their respective characters anew.(ABS-CBN)
