BACOLOD City – A father was arrested for hacking his son to death during a dispute over gmelina trees in Sitio Hakpan, Barangay Maaslob, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.
Rebico Bini, 65, was detained at the local police station at about 10 a.m. on June 18.
Police said Bini’s son Carlito, 42, succumbed to a lone hack wound.
From what the police so far gathered, Carlito confronted his father whom he saw chainsawing gmelina trees.
Carlito claimed he owned the trees and didn’t want them felled. A heated argument ensued.
Police said Carlito tried to hack his father with a bolo but the latter managed to dodge the blow, and struck his son fatally./PN
