ILOILO – A diversion road connecting the municipalities of Mina and Badiangan will be constructed to shorten the travel time between the two.

This concrete road project (10.77 kilometers) has a budget of P341 million. The groundbreaking was held on Feb. 8.

Aside from reducing travel time between Mina and Badiangan, travel will also be safer and more comfortable, said Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. who led the groundbreaking together with former governor Arthur Defensor Sr., 3rd District’s Cong. Lorenz Defensor and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) regional director Tiburcio Canlas.

Mayor Rey Grabato of Mina and Mayor Serafin Villa Jr. of Badiangan welcomed the road construction. They said it will benefit residents of Badiangan’s 31 barangays and Mina’s 22 barangays, and specifically of the 11 barangays in Badiangan that the road would intersect.

“Mas manami ang access sa agriculture, mas malapit ang pag-eskwela sang aton mga kabataan. Mas mahapos magpa-ospital kag mas malapit ang komersyo,” said Governor Defensor.

The road construction is expected to be completed by October 2022.
