Docs refuse to give Ivermectin to Erap

MANILA –The physicians of former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada refused to administer Ivermectin to him, saying it was only for animal use.

According to the former senator Jinggoy Estrada, they are discussing if they should use the anti-parasitic drug on their father.

Jinggoy consulted the doctors but one of them said, “I will not give Ivermectin to your dad because that is only for animals.”

“I really have to follow the doctor’s advice,” he said on Monday.

Recently, several hospitals were issued compassionate use permit to use Ivermectin against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The Linghua Qingwen – an in-demand Chinese drug that could allegedly address the symptoms of COVID-19 – was not prescribed to the former president. The doctors, however, agreed to use Leronlimab.

The Food and  Drugs Administration said Leronlimab  is an “investigational product which is still undergoing clinical trials for the treatment of cancer, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)… and COVID-19.”

Estrada also said that his father was given Remdesivir, a broad-spectrum antiviral medication./PN
