DOH-6 unveils 8 priority health outcomes under Marcos admin

ILOILO City – Aiming to significantly impact the health status of communities, the Department of Health (DOH) in Western Visayas is focused on implementing the eight priority health outcomes under President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s administration.

Dr. Adriano Suba-an, director of DOH Region  6, presented these priorities at the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas event organized by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 6 on Tuesday morning, July 2.

They are the following:

* Immunization

* Nutrition

* Maternal Health

* Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

* Tuberculosis/Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)

* Road Safety

* Non-Communicable Diseases

* Cancer

Suba-an said these eight health concerns were meticulously selected after extensive study.

“We believe that by focusing interventions on these areas, we can make a substantial difference in the health status of our region’s communities. Most of our current health problems stem from these areas,” said Suba-an.

The regional director expressed hope that various health partners and stakeholders will assist in achieving desired outcomes such as eliminating maternal deaths during pregnancy and achieving high immunization coverage for children ages zero to 59 months.

Suba-an also believes that the implementation of these eight priorities will contribute to the DOH’s vision of making Filipinos among the healthiest in Asia by 2040.

He emphasized the importance of starting the interventions now, not just within DOH, but involving all relevant sectors to achieve this vision by 2040./PN
