MANILA — The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday recorded 3,126 new infections of COVID-19, increasing active cases slightly to 31,037.
With this, the country’s total caseload is now at 3,867,071 nationwide, with 3,774,515 recoveries and 61,519 deaths, based on the DOH COVID-19 tracker.
The new cases are lower than the infections recorded on Wednesday, which was at 3,580, and the average cases recorded from August 15 to August 21 at 3,412.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 tracker continued to show that Metro Manila has the highest number of infections per region in the last two weeks with 12,723 cases, followed by Calabarzon at 7,053, then Central Luzon at 4,275.
On the other hand, Quezon City still has the most reported cases in the last two weeks at 2,943, followed by Cavite, which recorded 2,438 and Laguna at 1,866.
Meanwhile, the tracker showed that 21,222 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on Wednesday, reflecting the number of recorded infections on Friday. (Zacarian Sarao ©Philippine Daily Inquirer 2022)
