ILOILO City – With the start of the campaign period for senatorial and party-list candidates, the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 has issued a health advisory regarding mass gatherings. The advisory was released on Thursday, February 13, just hours before the campaign and proclamation rally of senatorial candidates of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas led by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
The rally drew an estimated 35,000 attendees from the city and province of Iloilo.
DOH-6 reminded the public to follow public health protocols to mitigate health risks. The advisory included the following safety guidelines:
* Senior citizens, immunocompromised individuals, and pregnant women are advised to stay at home.
* Those experiencing flu-like symptoms, fever, sore throat, colds, and cough should also stay home.
* Attendees are encouraged to continue wearing masks and sanitizing hands to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
* Bring water, an umbrella, towel, and extra clothing to manage sweating; an emergency kit containing alcohol or sanitizer, medications, and bandages is also recommended.
* Ensure that maintenance medications are taken as prescribed.
* If feeling unwell, immediately proceed to the nearest medical station for assistance.
* Be cautious about food and water consumption to avoid food poisoning.
* Smoking and vaping should be avoided in crowded areas.
* Sharp or dangerous objects should not be brought to the gathering.
