MANILA – The Department of Justice (DOJ) slapped inciting to sedition raps against Rodel Jayme, the man earlier tagged as the sharer of videos linking President Rodrigo Duterte’s family and friend to illegal drug trade.

Senior assistant State Prosecutor Anna Devanadera found probable cause to indict Jayme with inciting to sedition under Article 142 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act.

According to the DOJ, the creation of the website and the posting of “Bikoy” videos “are not an exercise of his freedom of speech and expression, but a clear act to arouse among its viewers a sense of dissatisfaction against the duly constituted authorities.”

“It is a known fact that the President declared an all-out war against drugs and a video containing these allegations can be interpreted as a scheme to weaken the confidence of the people in the government,” the DOJ said.

“These acts are against public peace, criminal in nature and are conducive to the destruction of the very government itself,” it added.

The prosecutors recommended the NBI should investigate other personalities involved such as a certain “Maru Nguyen” or “Maru Xie” whom Jayme communicated with the posting of the controversial videos.

Jayme was arrested last week for spreading the controversial “Ang Totoong Narcolist” videos, which featured a hooded “Bikoy,” a self-confessed former drug syndicate member.

In the video, “Bikoy” accused Duterte’s son former Davao City vice mayor Paolo Duterte, son-in-law Manases Carpio and former aide Christopher Go of funneling drug money into their bank accounts. /PN
