MANILA – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Tuesday announced that the agency is now in charge of validating vaccination cards of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW).
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said OFWs should submit their vaccination cards and other documents through Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), DOLE’s overseas operating arm, for them to be qualified on the shorter quarantine period granted to fully-inoculated OFWs, granted they are from “green countries.”
“OFWs fully vaccinated in countries or jurisdictions outside the Philippines must carry their official documentation of complete vaccination or their International Certificate of Vaccination validated through the POLO,” Bello said in a statement.
OFWs must also present their valid passport, travel documents, and verified employment contract to the POLO offices in their respective host countries.
OFWs are considered as “fully vaccinated” if they “received more than or equal to two weeks after having received the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine in 2-dose series; or more than or equal to two weeks after having received a single-dose vaccine,” according to the DOLE Department Order No. 226 series of 2021.(©Philippine Daily Inquirer 2021)
