DOLE’s TUPAD benefits 213 Panit-an residents

CAPIZ – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has identified 213 residents from 25 barangays of Panit-an town in this province to be the beneficiaries of its Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.

The beneficiaries would do community work for 10 days like assisting the local government unit in the clean and green program and coastal clean-up.

Each beneficiary will receive a compensation of P435 per day.

Pinuno party-list’s Rep. Howard Guintu and Mayor Katherine Dequiña-Belo expressed their gratitude to DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, DOLE – Capiz director Joselito Dela Banda, DOLE- Capiz focal person Myron Azarcon for the opportunity given to Panit-an residents.

Guintu and Belo had initiated for the TUPAD program to be extended to Panit-an.

The TUPAD program is a community-based package of assistance that provides safety net to disadvantaged workers aged 18 years old and above through temporary wage employment.

It is implemented by DOLE’s Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC) which serves as TUPAD’s program manager, either through direct administration by the DOLE or through co-partners, such as the local government units.

Under the program, beneficiaries are engaged for a minimum of 10 days up to a maximum of 90 days, continuous or otherwise, depending on the nature of the work to be performed./PN
