Don Salvador Benedicto town celebrates 40th founding anniversary

BACOLOD City – The municipality of Don Salvador Benedicto in Negros Occidental is celebrating its 40th founding anniversary and the 30th Kali-Kalihan Harvest Festival.

The festivities kicked off yesterday, Feb. 1.

Mayor Laurence Marxlen Dela Cruz said the town is looking back at its humble beginnings as it aims to be a top tourist destination.

Don Salvador Benedicto has breathtaking scenery and good food for tourists to enjoy, the mayor said.

The local government is pushing for sustainable tourism to boost the town’s economy, encourage agricultural development, and provide free access to quality healthcare and education.

Tomorrow, Feb. 3, the town will be paying tribute to those who made significant contributions to the town, including the police and military, government employees, and important leaders, among others.

An Agri-Trade Fair will be open until Feb. 9.

On the highlights day, Feb. 9, there will be a ground-breaking of the new event center, Kali Street Dancing and Cultural Competitions, the Mayor’s Report, Band Night, and Celebrity Night.
