ILOILO City – Western Visayas is welcoming a new regional police director today.
Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo replaces Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, who will retire from the service this month.
The two were classmates at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), Class 1990.
“Mabait at masipag naman ang classmate ko. I hope that the men and women of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) would support him just like how they supported me,” Miranda told Panay News.
Dongbo was previously the chief of the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG).
The Philippine National Police chief, Police General Guillermo Elazar, will officiate the turnover of command today (Nov. 10) in Camp General Martin Teofilo Delgado in Fort San Pedro.
Dongbo is not new to Western Visayas. He was assigned to the Bacolod City Police Office years ago.
Panay News sources said Dongbo was reportedly endorsed by a big transportation company in Bacolod City to Eleazar replacing the “first choice” – Ilonggo Police Brigadier General Robert Rodriguez.
Miranda, who will retire on Nov. 16, assumed office on Dec. 1, 2020, replacing Police Brigadier Rene Pamuspusan.
During his stint, Miranda maintained peace and order in Western Visayas. He also mobilized his men in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
“I know Dongbo would be more effective,” Miranda said.
Miranda thanked the local chief executives in Region 6 for their strong partnership with the police for almost a year he has been in the region.
“Maraming salamat po sa lahat na tumulong sa akin at sumuporta,” Miranda added./PN
