LOILO – Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director, Senior Supt. Cornelio Salinas warned policemen to stay away from drug dealers.
Salinas was alarmed by reports that some police personnel were protecting drug pushers.
Negative results of several drug operations such as those in the town of Pototan raised suspicions that some unscrupulous policemen could be alerting drug pushers of impending police operations.
Four Pototan policemen are now being monitored, said Salinas.
Of the four, two have the rank of Police Officer 1 (PO1). The other two are PO2s.
Pototan police chief, Senior Insp. Aaron Palomo is himself wondering why their drug operations often failed.
“When we conduct test buys or surveillance, these turn out positive. But actual operations are frequently unsuccessful,” Palomo said.
Salinas relieved a police officer of the Pototan police station last year for concealing his relation to a suspected drug dealer.
“Let us show to them that we are really serious of our fight against illegal drug dealers,” Salinas said./PN
