KALIBO, Aklan – The Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) warned the public not to fall prey to investment scams.

A number of Philippine National Police and Department of Education personnel in the region were victimized by fraudsters, said Police Major Willian Aguirre.

Most of the victims were those willing to part with their hard-earned money to get rich quick, said Aguirre.

Be suspicious of people promising quick fantastic guaranteed gains, he added.

“Be aware of their too-good-to-be-true promises.

Examine the investment offer. Do background checks. Ask for proof of legitimacy of operation, and transparency, said Aguirre.

Verify with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and other government regulators, he suggested.
