BORACAY – The Malay Transportation Office (MTrO) urged electric tricycle (e-trike) drivers to carry more students as classes begin.

Some e-trike drivers, for no valid reason, refuse to pick up students on Boracay Island who commute to school daily.

MTrO chief Cezar Oczon, Jr. said parents and guardians are encouraged to report undisciplined drivers or seek assistance from local authorities, particularly the MTrO.

To address e-trike drivers for their inappropriate behavior, complainants can call 09497035770 or report to the MTrO and Assistance Facebook page.

Oczon said the MTrO has asked the Boracay Land Transport Multi-Purpose Cooperative (BLTMPC) to remind their e-trike drivers who are violating transportation rules and regulations.

Nakiusap tayo sa BLTMPC na i-accommodate ang mga estudyante. Malaking tulong din ang pagpasok ng hop-on, hop-off buses sa mga estudyante sa Boracay,” he added.

Boracay’s hop-on, hop-off shuttle bus is a mode of transportation for tourists with designated pick-up and drop-off stations.

Currently, 11 hop-on, hop-off buses are operating on the island to ensure dependable public land transportation services for tourists and residents.

Oczon said a color-coding scheme for e-trike units operating for land tours and chartered services is also pending approval with the Malay Tricycle Franchising Regulatory Board./PN
