‘Don’t sell TESDA tool kits, use them’

Antique governor Rhodora Cadiao

SAN JOSE, Antique – The tool kits must be used to start a livelihood and must not be sold, according to Gov. Rhodora Cadiao.

A total of 1,700 Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) trainees received the tool kits on Friday.

The kits contained tools like oven, sewing machine and equipment for welding.

The distribution was led by Cadiao and TESDA provincial director Jose Gerry Hallares.

Cadiao said the trainees must be “serious” in making their own livelihoods to be able to support their families.

She added that Antique, known to be a home of sugar migrant workers, now have residents with upgraded skills due to TESDA trainings.

With the tool kits, Cadiao said the trainees can opt for self-employment.

For his part, Hallares said TESDA personnel will monitor the use of the tool kits.

He added that based on TESDA’s experience, some trainees sell their tool kits for “easy money.”

Hallares stressed that trainees who will use the tool kits productively will be given assistance and chances to undergo TESDA training on other courses. (With PNA/PN)
