TALISAY City – Led by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST VI), Western Visayas Consortium for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development or WVCIEERD’s first ever Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology (IEET) Research Conference is set to happen on Nov. 21 to 22 at the Nature’s Village Resort, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
IEET conference will gather student and faculty researchers, inventors and innovators in the field of industry, energy and emerging technology from the various institutions in Western Visayas.
Said conference will focus on three research and development (R&D) clusters namely (1) Food Safety and Security; (2) Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy; and (3) Electronics, ICT and Emerging Technology.
Bannered by the theme, “Convergence of Researches in Food, Energy and ICT for Smart and Sustainable Communities,” the activity aims to present opportunities to strengthen R&D capabilities, dissemination, utilization and collaborations among the members of the consortium.
Moreover, the conference will showcase researches from the member institutions of WVCIEERD through research presentations and competitions.
Highlight of the said conference include plenary session which will focus on the latest technology trends in the fields of Food Safety and Security, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy and Electronics, ICT and Emerging Technology.
The conference will include series of competitions on oral and poster research presentations for faculty and student researchers aside from the training sessions for faculty researchers.
There will also be product pitching from invited sponsors and identification of research collaborations among the consortium’s member-institutions.
IEET Conference is a result of the collaboration of the 21 member-institutions of the WVCIEERD led by DOST VI in partnership with Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas and Carlos Hilado Memorial State College.
The Western Visayas Consortium for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development is an association of different agencies, private higher education institutions and state universities and colleges involved in research and development, and extension to provide the needs of the industry and energy sectors in Western Visayas.
The consortium envisions a lead dynamic consortium of highly competent and committed institutions that contributes to the region’s productivity and competitiveness responsive to needs of the industry, energy and emerging technology sectors through research and development.
Moreover, it targets to generate viable, sustainable and environment-friendly technologies relevant to the needs of the industry, energy and emerging technology sectors in Western Visayas with the following specific goals: (1) Generate knowledge and technologies in line with the industry, energy and emerging technology agenda; (2) Develop experts for the enhancement of researchers’ competencies along the industry, energy and emerging technology research; (3) Forge strong partnerships among research institutions by making R&D results accessible/available to all members of the consortium; (4) Ensure the protection of intellectual property rights from the R&D outputs of the consortium; (5) Catalyze regional development through sharing, utilization and commercialization; and (6) Generate and mobilize resources to support the projects and programs of the consortium./PN
