DOST-6 cites outstanding researchers, innovators in WV

ILOILO City – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) awarded 12 outstanding researchers and innovators in Western Visayas, one of the highlights of the 2022 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) celebration.

Here are the awardees during the 2022 Idlab Awards held at the Iloilo Convention Center on Nov. 19:

Basic Research Category

* Doralyn S. Dalisay – Outstanding Researcher

* Dr. Fernan P. Tupas – second placer

* Dr. Judith S. Rabacal – third placer

Health Research Category

* Dr. Patricio P. Palmes – Outstanding Researcher

* Dr. Sheilla M. Trajera – second placer

* Dr. Marie Grace Dawn T. Isidro – third placer

Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technologies Category

* Engr. Sammy V. Militante – Outstanding Researcher

* Dr. Joel T. De Castro – second placer

* Prof. Julie Ann A. Salido – third placer

Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Category

* Dr. Christopher Marlowe A. Caipang – Outstanding Researcher

* Dr. Renerio S. Mucas – second placer

* Dr. Julius T. Vergara – third placer

Idlab Awards is the first ever Regional Research and Development (R&D) Awards created through the Regional Development Council (RDC) 6’s Resolution No. 80-2020.

This award and merit system aims to inspire more research and innovations in the region by recognizing outstanding researchers, engineers, and innovators.

It also intends to create an avenue for government and private partnerships to generate resources to support research and development.

The 2022 Idlab Awards was officially launched on August 17, 2022, where a total of 21 researchers from various state universities and colleges (SUCs) in the region were nominated in the fields of basic research; agriculture, aquaculture, and natural resources; industry, energy, and emerging technologies; and health research./PN
