DOST releases fund assistance to 4 MSMEs in the food sector

ILOILO City – Four  micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Western Visayas recently received financial assistance for technology upgrading through the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program Innovation-Enabling Fund (SETUP iFUND) of the Department of Science and Technology. 

SETUP is a DOST flagship program which aims to assist the MSMEs produce quality products, increase productivity, and sustain marketability through technology and equipment upgrading and strengthening of its innovation capability.  Since 2003, DOST VI was able to assist some 450 client-MSMEs in the region engaged in food processing, metals and engineering, furniture, gifts, decors & handicrafts, agriculture, marine, and aquaculture.

The four firms that recently availed of the SETUP iFund assistance are Gary’s Muscovado Manufacturing, Kairos Farm, Samance Agro Products, Inc. and Cheran Bakery.  The firms availed of the SETUP with the aim of upgrading their production facility to improve product quality and processes.

The delivery of technology services of the Department of Science and Technology Region VI (DOST VI) continues amid the COVID-19 health crisis.  The implementation of the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) is maintained being a nationwide strategy to address the needs and requirements of the MSMEs.
