ILOILO City – Department of Tourism Region 6 director Atty. Helen Catalbas attended the Miss Iloilo Dinagyang 2019 Kahirup Ball- Designers Gala Charity Runway Show at Molo Mansion on Jan. 12, lauding its contribution to local craft industries.
“Department of Tourism Region 6 strongly supports this kind of event. Through this, local designers and their works that depicts the rich culture of Western Visayas are promoted. So I am encouraging everyone to support our local designers as well as the producers of local fabrics for it will greatly help showcase our region and sustain our local economy”, Catalbas said.
Kahirup Ball is a haute couture gala fashion show of evening gowns modelled by the candidates of Miss Iloilo Dinagyang 2019. The evening gowns were made by Iloilo’s top 30 haute couture designers. The event also featured cocktail food of crème de la crème Ilonggo chefs to help promote the Iloilo’s food tourism.
Meanwhile, on Jan. 11, 2019, candidates of Miss Iloilo Dinagyang 2019 paid a courtesy visit to director Catalbas at the DOT-6 office, Casa Real De Iloilo, Capitol Grounds, here.
According to PJ Arañador, chairman of Miss Iloilo Dinagyang 2019, the coronation night on January 25, 2019 at Casa de Emperador, Iloilo Business Park will be the first open theatre-type pageant in the Philippines. He added that in order to help promote the tourism industry, the video wall during the event will feature heritage buildings and tourist destinations in Iloilo./PN
