ILOILO City –The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 6 is set to launch its new tourism product – Cruise and Drive Tours – on June 20 to 22.
According to Regional Director Helen Catalbas, the new tourism product aims to connect three islands of Western Visayas – Panay, Guimaras and Negros – using roll on, roll-off ships to carry the tourists and their automobiles, cars, rented vans, jeepneys and tour buses.
The formal launching will follow after a critiquing activity that will take place in a two-day, three-island tour within Western Visayas using three vans.
Among the participants are the DOT staff, tourism officers, tour operators, tour guides and the media.
After the critiquing activity, DOT Region 6 will come up with the “final product” or a tour package exclusive for Cruise and Drive and will be distributed at the DOT foreign and regional offices, Department of Tourism Region 6 Office, local government units, DOT-accredited travel and tour agencies and promotional events, among others.
The Cruise and Drive Tours was introduced during the Experience Western Visayas First grand launching on March 2 at the Freedom Grandstand here./PN
